End-of-Year Workshop Series: Guiding Learners to Higher Levels of Proficiency

Just want to attend Guiding Learners to Higher Levels of Proficiency? You've found the right page!

Guiding Learners to Higher Levels of Proficiency

What really counts to move along the proficiency continuum (from Novice, to Intermediate, and towards the Advanced level of proficiency)? What strategies are effective for developing proficiency using each Mode of Communication? Through the lens of the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements, unpack the elements of proficiency and what they mean for planning effective tasks.  Experience and analyze a variety of examples from one sample unit of instruction. Identify one class that you are teaching and use that as a lens through which to apply your learning. Guide your learners to develop the language functions and confidence to move to higher levels of proficiency.

Dates: Saturday, May 6 OR Saturday, May 13

Time: 10:30am – 6:00pm Eastern Time

Delivery: Virtual, via Zoom and ACTFLearn Central (LMS)

Attending the virtual workshop in its entirety (including completing the post-workshop tasks on the LMS) equates to 8 hours of professional development. After registering, additional details about joining our ACTFLearn Central course for the workshop and accessing the Zoom meeting will be sent to participants several days prior to the workshop date.

Registration Options:

Please choose the date on which you would like to attend the Zoom meeting for the workshop.

NOTE: Based on enrollment for each date, we may be forced to proceed with just one date for the workshop. In this case, all registrants would be invited to attend on the date with sufficient enrollment or receive a refund. However, please note that a recording of the workshop will be provided, in the case of last-minute scheduling conflicts for participants. We do not, however, recommend planning to only watch the recording as live attendance is necessary for receiving a certificate of participation.

Member Rate:

Membership dues must be paid prior to registering for the workshop to register at the member rate. Please note, ACTFL will not refund the difference for those who register at the nonmember rate and then later join ACTFL. ACTFL membership fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.
