The Importance of Proficiency-based Language Instruction
This 90-minute virtual course is made possible by Klett World Languages and is designed to immerse administrators and department leaders in understanding the importance of proficiency-based language instruction. This course is an overview of proficiency in the classroom. For more in-depth understanding and practice of language proficiency, please refer to our workshops and other asynchronous courses

After completing the course you will receive a certificate of completion that indicates 1.5 contact hours with the material.


By the end of the course, you will be able to:

1. Differentiate between performance and proficiency using ACTFL definitions and classroom examples.

2. Understand the ACTFL proficiency levels and sublevels.

3. Use NCSSFL-ACTFL Can Do Statements and the ACTFL Performance Descriptors to support learner growth and self assessment.

4. Research individual state and district-level support for sharing the benefits of the Seal of Biliteracy.
