Assisting HLLs Using Existing Resources
This online course serves as a brief overview of what current research exists with regards to Heritage Language Learners (HLLs) in the World Language classroom and focuses on how to use differentiated and guided instruction in order to facilitate learning in classrooms consisting of heritage speakers and those with mixed proficiency levels.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Identify the main characteristics of heritage speakers
Define the principles of differentiated instruction and how that is applicable to HLLs
Strategically use existing resources to support these learners
